Our Pre-Employment Welding course teaches you the skills necessary to get started in the welding trade. Clients attend school Monday through Thursday. We start a new class every 6 weeks. Upon the recommendation of our Instructors, clients with passing grades and acceptable attendance will have the opportunity to challenge their 1st Year Apprenticeship exams.
If you are currently unemployed, you may contact Alberta Human Resources & Employment regarding “grant” funding. Aboriginal and/or Metis applicants should contact Oteenow or Metis Nation for their funding requirements. Treaty Natives apply to your Band Office.

This Pre-Employment Welding Program is a course designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing an apprenticeship in welding but lack the necessary skills required to secure employment. This accredited course will teach you the manual welding skills and theory required by today’s employers. Upon completion of the first 12 weeks, clients with passing grades and acceptable attendance will be sent to the Alberta Apprenticeship Board to challenge the 1st Year Welder Apprenticeship examinations. Clients who successfully pass these examinations will be granted credit for first period of formal instruction only (not including work experience – 10 months) subject to approval of the employer when entering into a contract of apprenticeship
Pre-requisite: You have completed at least GRADE 9 or HIGHER and be in good physical health.
Tuition may be paid by cheque, Visa or MasterCard. 1st Nations and Métis applicants may contact their band or the Metis Federation of Alberta, or Oteenow to inquire about financial assistance. The Pre-Employment Welding Program offers a new intake date every 6 weeks.
If a grant is required be prepared for an 8 to 12 week wait for funding.
Pre-requisites for registration for

1. An official transcript of your high school marks.

2. Resume outlining your education, any job experience, volunteer work, or industry related training etc.
3. At least 3 names and contact information of people who know you, and know where to find you once you have graduated and moved on.
4. Your complete mailing and street address plus social insurance number.

Enrollment DOES NOT GUARANTEE your requested start time or entrance into the pre-employment program.
Final acceptance will depend on several factors including funding approval, and our decisions based on the above prerequisite criteria, as to the most likely to succeed candidates.
We only accept 6 clients for each of the enrollment dates listed on the enclosed intake calendar on a first come, first served basis.
